Breaking News! Veteran film producer D Ramanaidu has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2009. He will receive the award at the National Films Awards Function in October 2010.
D Ramanaidu, who started his film career in 1963, has produced movies in Telugu, Hindi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
He has produced more than 110 films in most Indian languages and has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Naidu was elected to Lok Sabha from Bapatla constituency on a TDP ticket in 1999.
Dr. Daggubati Ramanaidu (Telugu: దగ్గుబాటి రామానాయుడు) (born 6 June 1936) is an Indianmovie producer and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner for the year 2009. The Guinness Book of Records lists him as the most prolific producer with 130 films.[1] Apart from producing Telugumovies, he has also produced movies in languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Bengali.
He was born on 6 June 1936 to Daggubati Venkateswarlu and Lakshmi Devamma in Karamchedu in the present-day Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh.[2] In 1963, he produced his first Telugu film Anuragam, followed by a very successful Ramudu Bheemudu starring N. T. Rama Rao in 1964.[1] He is a member of the Telugu Desam Party and represented Baptala constituency in Guntur District in the 13th Lok Sabha from 1999-2004.
